How It Works:
Dexlansoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that suppresses gastric acid secretion by specifically inhibiting the (H+, K+)-ATPase at the gastric parietal cells’ secretory surface. This inhibition blocks the final step of acid production.

Indication:
Healing of all grades of erosive esophagitis (EE) for up to eight weeks
Maintenance of EE healing and relief of heartburn for up to six months
Treatment of heartburn associated with symptomatic non-erosive GERD for four weeks
When Not to Use:
Dexlansoprazole is contraindicated in:
Patients with known hypersensitivity to dexlansoprazole or any excipient in the product
Individuals using rilpivirine-containing products
Patients with severe hepatic impairment

Precaution:
The use of proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) may increase the risk of Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea, especially in hospitalized patients. Use the lowest effective dose and shortest duration of PPI therapy necessary for the condition being treated.
Tedavi Ddr Warnings:
Warning 1:
Long-term PPI therapy may increase the risk of osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, spine, or wrist. Use the lowest effective dose and shortest duration necessary. Manage patients at risk for fractures according to established treatment guidelines.
Warning 2:
Consider checking serum magnesium levels before starting long-term therapy, especially if taking digoxin, diuretics, or other drugs known to cause hypomagnesemia.
Warning 3:
Prolonged treatment with dexlansoprazole may lead to vitamin B12 malabsorption and deficiency. Monitor vitamin B12 levels if treatment extends beyond one year.
